Formula One Problem Solving SAC

This week class time is devoted to the problem solving task based on the Australian Grand Prix. Earlier this year we all remember meeting with F1 driver Nick Heidfeld. You might draw on some of what you remember from his discussions with us.

Also, some of you will likely find this task more of a challenge than usual. Some of the questions do not have one “right” answer, but rather give you the opportunity to use mathematics to analyse the track and make comments on driver skills and strategies. That is the point of the task – your analysis and displaying your reasoning and understanding of what the mathematics is describing – what it is telling you. This is what you need to show rather than worrying about getting a particular answer. That is what makes this task different and a challenge!
